[ARCHIVED] Booster Shots for 65 +

At this time the FDA has voted to approve a booster dose of Pfizer for those who are 65 and older, at increased risk of severe COVID-19, and high risk health care workers.

Wilkes Health is working on developing a plan to administer these booster doses. However, we will not be able to start to administer these doses until ACIP and the CDC make their recommendations. This meeting is slated to happen on Wednesday September 22nd and Thursday September 23rd. Once they have made their recommendations, we have to wait for guidance from NC DHHS. We do anticipate and are planning to start administering booster doses next week.

Wilkes Health does plan to hold a mass clinic October 1st, at River's Edge for booster shots as long as all the information and guidance is approved.

This will only impact individuals who are 65 and older and high risk who received a Pfizer vaccine and completed their series 6 months ago.

If you have received Moderna, you are not eligible for a booster vaccine at this time.
