[ARCHIVED] Wilkes County COVID-19 Count

As of 4:30 pm on 8/13/2020

Wilkes Health will be updating case numbers and demographics Monday - Friday before 5 pm.

892 Confirmed Cases

714 Recovered*
16 Confirmed Deaths
57 Confirmed Hospitalizations-  5 currently hospitalized

*Wilkes Health has updated their definition of recovered to reflect recommendations from NCDHHS and the CDC. North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) estimates an average recovery of 14 days from the date that someone was tested for COVID-19, and were not hospitalized. However the estimated recovery is 28 days from the date that someone was tested for COVID-19 and was hospitalized*

Unfortunately, Wilkes Health is not able to provide a number of residents tested or negative test results. This is due to private practices, hospitals, long term care facilities, and some being tested outside the county. We understand that this frustrating, but only positive results and deaths are required by law to be reported to the health department. Please see below for demographic related information for 871 COVID-19 laboratory confirmed cases.

Information labeled unknown means Wilkes Health does not have access to that information.
