1. Do you see patients without insurance?

We do see uninsured adults at the Health Department. Please contact Armando Limon at 336-651-7386. He may be able to assist you with finding a medical provider.

2. How are discounts given at the Health Clinic?

In our Adult Health Clinic, the fees that you pay are based on your household income. If you have further questions about this, please contact our billing office at 336-651-7450.

3. If I lost my insurance will someone see me?

Your current primary care provider (PCP) can continue to see you as a self-pay patient, however, if you cannot afford to pay for the visits at your regular PCP, we can see you at the Health Department and charge you based on your income. 4. Do you provide surgery assistance for people with no insurance?

There may be some assistance with the surgery available through the Access to Care Task Force. Please contact our Access to Care Coordinator, Armando Limon.

5. Does the Dental Clinic at West Park accept patients with no dental insurance, and if so is it low cost or sliding scale fee?

They do take uninsured patients, however, we do not have access to their fee rates, please call them directly at 336-903-9399.

6. Is there any help offered to uninsured women who are due for a mammogram?

There are two programs that the Health Department participates in that could offer assistance if you need a mammogram, the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure NC Triad.

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) is a federal program North Carolina takes part in so that we can offer breast and cervical cancer screening, education and prevention at extremely low costs. One of our main goals is to allow women who do not qualify under other state and federal programs to be screened for breast and cervical cancers. Through the BCCCP Program, women are eligible for reduced/ no cost exams if they are:
- Age 50-64
- Not covered by Medicaid or Medicare Part B
- Have little or no insurance to cover breast and cervical screenings
- Meet household income guidelines. Income guidelines can change every year.
Payment is determined by a sliding fee scale according to family size and family income. Other services may cost extra. Be sure to call ahead if you are interested in the program.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure NC Triad is a grant funded program that the health department applies for each year. Through the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure NC Triad, women are eligible for mammograms at a reduced/ no cost exams if they are:
- Age 35-64
- Not covered by Medicaid or Medicare Part B
- Have little or no insurance to cover breast screenings
- Meet household income guidelines.

7. Will Ohio Medicaid pay for Genome Mapping for adopted children with Medicaid who have no family medical history/background?

In North Carolina, we would refer the recipient to the provider of the service (the agency doing the testing) if they are able to bill Medicaid for the service provided. Each state sets its own rules for what Medicaid will pay. Another option may be to contact the adoption agency to see if there are adoption assistance monies available for the testing. 8. Is there a charge for Mobile Expanded School Health (MESH) visits? If a child without insurance or Medicaid gets sick at school could they be seen?

MESH does not charge for services. If a student has Medicaid or Health Choice then we can bill the insurance. The only fee we charge is for a sports physical which is $15. There is no co-pay or fee for sick visits. If we know who the doctor is then MESH will fax them a copy of the sick visit to the doctor for their records.
