Building Inspections

The Wilkes County Building Inspections provide a professional level of service designed to assure the adequate protection of the health and safety of the citizens of Wilkes County through assertive enforcement of the various State Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical and Fire Codes. Residential and commercial building permits are issued in the building inspections office between 8:30 am - 9:30 am Monday - Friday (excluding holidays).

The Wilkes County Building Inspection Office is authorized by the North Carolina General Statutes to enforce the North Carolina State Building Code. The primary function of the office is to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the public.


Services

    • Conduct Plan Reviews – Building & Fire (including accessory buildings)
    • Issue Building Permits – Commercial, residential, modular
    • Issue manufactured home permits
    • Conduct building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and fire inspections
    • Issue Certificate of Occupancy
    • Maintain records of permits issued
If you are in the Town of North Wilkesboro you will need to contact Curt Hayes, Building Inspector 336-667-7129 ext 3009.  The Town of Wilkesboro and Town of North Wilkesboro provide fire inspections for their jurisdiction.
